Today was a more somber day as we visited the concentration camp Dachau. There was so much history there and it was an unforgettable experience to walk in the area where everything happened years ago. Dachau is a camp for more military personnel as opposed to what some of the other camps may have been used for at the time.
Over 12 years, there were 206,000 people there and 42,000 died while there due to starvation, freezing, or similar causes. It was interesting to learn that Dachau was used as a showcase camp meaning not only was it the foundation for other camps being built, but when officials came to inspect the camps, they would make sure it was up to standards.

Walking through the bunkers was chilling. Even though they were rebuilt to be exact replicas of what it was then, it is unimaginable to know what the living conditions were like. In each building, there might be 2,000 people at a time causing a mortality rate of 300 people per day. While it may not have been a fun day, it was educational and eye opening to get to experience this.
