The trip is coming to a close. Today we went to the Florence Nightingale museum to learn a little bit about nursing and Florence herself. Before the museum, we passed by Big Ben and took a bunch of pictures. It’s not as big and grand as I expected, but neither was anything in London. The architecture was really beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like movies and social media over-exaggerate how grand these buildings are. The museum was interesting and it was fun to learn about the early stages of nursing and how Flo contributed to some techniques we use today. They have displays of items that either Florence used or people used during her time in nursing. I enjoyed the museum a lot and I’m glad we were given the opportunity to check it out.
After the museum, we went sightseeing and shopping for a bit. We headed to Soho and looked at all the little shops over there. Soho is so fun and it reminded me of LA a bit. They have really nice thrift stores and the buildings surrounding Soho are unique and make a good picture for Instagram. I did some shopping at Zara and some souvenir places to get my family and friends a few gifts. I made sure to get tea for everyone, too. The tea in England is delicious but it’s not very different from the tea we have in America.
After shopping we made sure to head to the London Bridge. We used a lot of tubes to get there and the tubes are actually fun to take. Once you navigate your way through it once, it’s pretty simple the rest of the way. We asked around where the bridge was because we got a little lost. We found our way in the end but we expected something very different than what we saw. The London Bridge is simply a plain old bridge in London. It’s the Towers Bridge that’s the great, grand bridge. So to all the Americans who wish to see the London Bridge, I recommend heading to Towers Bridge first. It would make for better pictures, at least.
Shopping and pictures were so much fun but we had to hurry and get dinner before Mamma Mia started. We all got pizza, which was pretty good. Then we walked to the theatre to see Mamma Mia live. I was so excited for this. I’ve already seen Mamma Mia live once while I was in California. Dove Cameron and Corbin Bleu played Sky and Sophie, so my expectations were high. The show was good and I did end up crying at “Slipping Through My Fingers”, but I still think Dove and Corbin did it better. I’m still grateful that we got to see the show. I had so much fun singing quietly with everyone. I also recorded so much of the ending since they didn’t let us record throughout.
At the end of the day, I’m still an American girl and I have to go home. I’ll miss London and all the glory England has. I’m going to visit again at some point in the future, for sure. Thank you Plus3 for this amazing experience! Farewell England.
