Today was a very historically-filled day, where we got to sleep in, and then spend some great time at two different museums. The first one we visited was the Immigration Museum of Buenos Aires, which also still functions as their immigration offices. It was very interesting to hear about the immigration patterns of Buenos Aires and Argentina, as we heard a lot about the influence immigrants had on creating the culture and prominent architecture of the city. It was stated that Argentine culture was truly developed by the accumulation of so many different backgrounds, and has come to be a melting pot for anybody who wishes to enter. Now, it is also very easy for people to gain visas and citizenship, as the country is constantly welcoming new people applying. This is a very different process than the United States, where people must take a lot of tests or wait for a long time to get a visa. Argentina actually encouraged a lot of European immigration and the city of Buenos Aires would not be the same without them.

The museum was also where immigrants would come and stay until all of their paperwork and plans were taken care of. They were provided with beds and showers, and conditions were not super terrible for the people inside. This again displayed how they really encouraged and wanted immigrants to come, and provided multiple amenities for them as well. After this museum, we got to go to Museo Etnográfico which is a museum about the native culture and history of Argentina. It was filled with many different objects and artifacts that were from their ancient history. It was very cool to see what made up the culture before the European settlements.

We wrapped up our day with an amazing dinner at our Alumni Dinner. We had the attendance of two of the best doctors in the world, and got to speak with them about their practices and lives. My spaghetti was one of the best I have ever had, and you could tell it was handmade based on the color and texture of the pasta. It has been getting so upsetting to know that we are leaving very soon, as I have greatly enjoyed the time spent in Buenos Aires and with all of my new friends.
