I woke up feeling nervous to present my long-awaited final for the Plus 3 course. This 30-minute presentation had been looming over my head the entire trip and I was excited to get it out of the way and to show off all that I had learned about the company – GROB.
There were 4 groups that each had 8 people in them and each presentation lasted roughly 30 minutes. Our group went second so it wasn’t a super long wait before I was able to speak. My nerves were building throughout the first group’s presentation so I was especially grateful to go next. In my section, I highlighted GROB’s internal relations including HR, Marketing, Finance, and Operations. I researched how the company has recently made adaptations to these areas to improve its overall production and communications.
After presenting, we all ventured back the the University of Augsberg dining hall. I love coming here as it makes me feel like I am fully immersed in German college life! I had a Mediterranean meal with a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. I found myself constantly comparing the experience to walking into The Eatery (Pitt’s dining hall). The food here is fresher and there are way fewer options than at The Eatery. I prefer their philosophy when it comes to food – quality over quantity.
We took the tram back to our hotel. I took a much-needed siesta and then got ready for the farewell dinner at the Ratskeller restaurant in the town square. At dinner, we presented our gifts to Elizabeth and Nikolas who have put their lives on hold for the past two weeks to make our experience here in German incredible. I spoke with some of the people I developed friendships with at dinner for the last time. It was sad leaving them but hopeful we will see each other in the future wherever that may be.
