D5: Landsberg am Lech

Today was a relatively chill day at Landsberg am Lech. Landsberg is one of the oldest German towns, and is situated on the Romantic Road. Hitler was in jail there in 1924, and it is noted as the place where he wrote the nazi Bible, “Mein Kapft.”

After arriving, the group split off, and I ended up exploring the riverbank with a small group consisting of some Pitt students and some German students.

We grabbed food afterward at a restaurant in the town center that had some really good cheese. I noticed that many restaurants in Germany have outdoor seating. While some restaurants in America also offer outdoor seating, it’s not as prevalent.

One of the German students who will be doing the exchange program at Pitt (he wasn’t able to go to Landsberg with us though) was from the area and afterwards he mentioned that if we wandered a little bit more upstream, the river forms a small lake. That’s where the city residents usually hang out in the summer.
