Hello from Arona, PA – and soon, Birmingham, UK!

Hi everyone! My name is Katie, and I’m from the small town of Arona, Pennsylvania. I’m currently a nursing student at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, and I’m so excited to share that I’ll be studying abroad in Birmingham, United Kingdom! This will be my very first time traveling outside of the United States, and I honestly can’t wait. I’ve always dreamed about what it would be like to experience a different country- seeing new places, meeting new people, and stepping out of my comfort zone. Being able to do all of that while continuing my education is such an incredible opportunity.

As a nursing major, I’m especially looking forward to learning about healthcare from a global perspective. I think it’s so valuable to see how other countries approach patient care and the healthcare system in general. It’ll be amazing to bring that insight back with me to use throughout my future career. I’m also just really excited to explore Birmingham itself! From what I’ve seen, it’s a vibrant city with so much history, culture, and diversity. I can’t wait to try new foods, check out the museums and shops, and maybe even hit the dance floor at the dance club (we’ll see!). This is such a big step for me, but I know it’s going to be life-changing in the best way. Here’s to new adventures across the pond!
