A Glimpse Into My Seoul!

Hi! My name is Noa Shimshi, and I’m currently a first-year computer engineering student at the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering. Personally, I’m passionate about forming meaningful connections and using engineering as a tool to improve lives. I plan on pursuing a certificate in Disability Studies, which reflects my interest in creating inclusive, human-centered technology. Professionally, I hope to work in assistive technology and design accessible solutions that empower individuals with diverse abilities.

Outside of school, I love listening to music, playing guitar, volunteering with Friendship Circle, and doing arts and crafts. These activities keep me grounded, creative, and connected to my community—values that also inspire the kind of engineer I want to become.

I’ve chosen the Plus3 South Korea program because of the country’s global leadership in innovation, technology, and manufacturing. I’m particularly interested in exploring how assistive technology can integrate with the smart systems we’ll be learning about, and how these innovations can be adapted to support people with diverse abilities. Personally, I hope to grow from stepping outside of my comfort zone, while academically and professionally, I aim to build a global mindset that will guide my future work in creating inclusive, impactful solutions.
