Hi everyone! My name is Matt Bean and I am a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I am from Springfield Pennsylvania which is about 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia in Delaware County. In my first year at Pitt , I was able to get involved in a ton of clubs like the Club Baseball team and Pitt Dance Marathon which I am really passionate about. I enjoy things like playing and watching sports, staying active, going to the beach, and listening to music. Professionally, I want to focus on human centered design and helping people. I love trying new things which is why I pursued studying abroad this summer!

I am so excited to go on the Plus 3 Korea trip this summer! I chose Korea for its vibrant and unique culture. Some things I am especially excited to do when in Korea is try a ton of new foods, explore the city of Seoul, and immerse myself in the culture. Since I love playing baseball I am looking forward to watching a baseball game in Korea and seeing how it differs from the MLB. Also, being an engineer, I am fascinated by all the innovation Seoul has made in terms of smart systems. I am interested in how they were able to develop these technologies and what kinds of expansion is possible. Overall, Plus 3 in Korea is going to open my eyes not only to new cultures, but to new technology and ideas that will help enhance my education as I progress as a student at Pitt.
