My name is Mya Plank and I am a freshman in the nursing program. I grew up in Hanover, PA which is about 4 hours away. I decided to come to the University of Pittsburgh because the highly ranked nursing program. This year I have enjoyed doing intramural sports with my friends and I am looking forward to joining more clubs my sophomore year.. I have always wanted to study abroad and am so excited to have the opportunity to do so. Outside of my life at Pitt I enjoy crafting, working out, and traveling. I love traveling to new places and experiencing new things.

This summer, I am studying abroad in Spain. From kindergarten to fourth grade I went to a charter school where I learned have the day in English and half the day in Spanish. I then continued taking Spanish through middle school and high school. I have always loved the culture and am so excited to be able to visit somewhere where I can immerse in it. While studying abroad I hope grow my understanding of how healthcare works in different countries. As a future nurse, I think it is important to have an understanding of how healthcare works around the work. One day I may have patient from Spain and I will feel better equipped to provide care to them because I will have an understanding of the heath-care they grew up with.
