Hello!
My name is Isabel Concepcion, and I am currently a first-year nursing student. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and proud to be the daughter of a Dominican immigrant. Growing up in an environment influenced by multiple cultures has shaped my passion for connecting with people from all backgrounds. I would describe myself as outgoing, enthusiastic, and someone who is always looking for ways to get involved. At Pitt, I am an active member of multiple clubs, including being social chair of the Latinx Student Nursing Association, where I have had the chance to build my leadership skills and collaborate with fellow nursing students who share the same cultural background as myself. Academically, I am passionate about nursing, and I am eager to continue learning how compassionate care can transform lives. Professionally, I am motivated to become a nurse who is not only knowledgeable but also culturally aware and committed to making a difference.
I chose the Plus3 program in Bilbao, Spain, because it offers the perfect opportunity to combine my love for culture, language, and global experiences. Bilbao’s combination of history, innovation, and art immediately caught my attention, and I am excited to experience it firsthand. Through this program, I hope to grow personally by stepping outside of my comfort zone and learning new things. Academically and professionally, I look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of international healthcare systems and developing a global mindset that I can carry into my nursing career. I am so excited for the skills that Plus3 will help me build as a future healthcare professional.
