Next Stop, Ecuador!

Hi!! My name is Ava Snyder, and I’m thrilled to be heading to Ecuador in just a couple of weeks! I recently completed my first year at the University of Pittsburgh’s College of Business Administration, where I’m pursuing a double major in Supply Chain and Marketing, along with a certificate in International Business.

I’m originally from Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, a small town in central PA. Outside of academics, I enjoy spending time with friends, going on walks, shopping, and attending concerts. I’m especially passionate about music—some of my favorite artists at the moment include Sabrina Carpenter, Lizzy McAlpine, Role Model, and Harry Styles. I’m a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and currently work as a server at Viva Los Tacos.

Travel has always been something I’ve been passionate about, so getting to study abroad during my freshman year feels surreal. I chose Ecuador because of how well it connects to my academic and career interests—especially in supply chain. I’m really curious about how goods move globally, how businesses manage logistics across borders, and how culture plays a role in shaping consumer habits. This trip is the perfect opportunity to take what I’m learning in the classroom and see it in action in a completely new environment.

While I’m in Ecuador, I’m hoping to not only learn more about global business and supply chain operations but also to immerse myself in the culture, try new foods, practice my Spanish, and meet new people. I want to leave this experience with a stronger understanding of how international markets work and also with memories and friendships that will last beyond college.
