Hi everyone! My name is Maggie Meglio, and I am from Doylestown, PA. I’ve just completed my first year at the University of Pittsburgh’s College of Business Administration, where I’m studying Marketing and pursuing a certificate in Leadership and Ethics. I’m thrilled to have been selected for the Pitt Plus3 Program in Ecuador, and I’m excited to share my journey with you!
A bit about me: I’m a passionate individual with a love for concerts, movies, music, hiking, and traveling. Professionally, my true passion lies in the Music and Entertainment Industry, with a focus on live touring and festivals, artist management, and fan engagement. Throughout my first year at Pitt, I’ve been fortunate to be involved in so many great programs and organizations that have helped me grow both personally and professionally. I currently serve as the Vice President of Member Relations for Women in Business and as a Production Assistant for Pitt Program Council Special Events Committee. I’m also a part of the Music and Entertainment Business Association and the DiabetesLink, where I’ll be taking on leadership roles as Vice President of Philanthropy and Special Events and Marketing/Social Media Chair respectivley in the fall. Additionally, I’ve been working as a Marketing and Promotions Intern at Stage AE, a concert venue on the North Shore, and I’m an alumna of the Leaders Engaging and Developing Strengths (LEADS) Co-Curricular Program at Pitt.
As a huge traveler and someone who’s always been drawn to global experiences, I knew I wanted to study abroad when I first started at Pitt. Initially, I was hesitant to apply to the Plus3 program, but as I learned more about the opportunities it offered, I realized it was an amazing fit for me. The program’s focus on global skills and business perspectives aligned perfectly with my academic and professional goals. When I discovered that the Plus3 program in Ecuador would allow me to explore the supply chain of chocolate and roses, I was sold. Having worked at my local candy store, Raymer’s Homemade Candies, I saw this as an opportunity to connect the dots between my experiences on one end of the supply chain and learn more about the global market on the other!
My hope is that this program will broaden my knowledge of global businesses, challenge me academically, and push me out of my comfort zone. I believe that studying abroad will not only enhance my professional skills but also help me develop a more nuanced perspective on the world. By immersing myself in Ecuadorian culture, I expect to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of global business and to develop upon essential skills like adaptability, leadership, and determination with the many experiences planned for our trip. I’m eager to share my experiences and insights with you as I embark on this incredible journey, and I look forward to creating unforgettable memories in Ecuador!
