Hello everyone! My name is Aleeza Greenstein, and I have just finished my first year at the University of Pittsburgh. I am originally from Baltimore, Maryland, and I am studying mechanical engineering at the Swanson School of Engineering, as well as the Frederick Honors College, where I can pursue an honors engineering degree. On campus, I am involved in many extracurriculars. I am the Vice President of PRISM, one of the many LGBTQ+ clubs at the University of Pittsburgh. I also play alto saxophone for the Pitt Pep Band, and plan to play in the marching band next year. In my free time, I like to draw, watch movies, and hang out with my friends!
I have chosen to major in mechanical engineering because I enjoy building and designing. I have done this throughout middle and high school through the PLTW program, and plan to continue in college. Another reason I chose mechanical engineering was due to the flexible nature of the degree. I have always known myself to be creative but remain unsure of my professional goals. I hope through global experiences, including the Plus3 Netherlands program, as well as the Co-op program through the Swanson school of engineering, that I will discover a career path that I am passionate about.
I have always been passionate about traveling and experiencing new cultures, and this is what brought me to be a part of the Plus3 Netherlands program. I have never been to the Netherlands, and so this is a wonderful opportunity to explore a new country while broadening my engineering education. The Netherlands specifically focuses on sustainability and has impressive engineering infrastructure in place to strive towards this goal of improving sustainability. I am extremely excited to see this engineering up close, and perhaps discover new engineering technologies and ideas that I can use in my future pursuits.
