¡Estoy lista, Buenos Aires!

Hi everyone! My name is Hailey Kleiner, and I am from the Bay Area, California. I just finished my freshman year as a nursing student at the University of Pittsburgh, and look forward to studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina through the Plus3 program! Some things I enjoy in my free time are listening to music, surfing, glassblowing, playing the guitar, and spending time with my friends and family. After completing my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, I intend to work as a registered nurse for a couple of years before working as a travel nurse, and then later plan to continue my education and either pursue a career as a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist.

My family is extremely passionate about traveling, giving me the privilege of visiting several countries throughout my life, including Spain, France, Italy, and Costa Rica. This passion for exploring and experiencing new cultures has stuck with me, and is the reason why this program immediately caught my eye. Plus3 introduced a crossover between my love for travel and an opportunity to gain valuable experience for my career in healthcare. My mom is actually from Buenos Aires, Argentina, but I have only visited once before to see family. I was thrilled to see that I had been placed in the Argentina program, as I am very excited to return and experience Buenos Aires from a different perspective, where I can combine my passion for nursing with the culture I grew up with.

Argentina has such a rich history and culture, and I cannot wait to learn more through first hand experiences during my time there. I hope to learn from professionals in my field who may introduce new perspectives about the role of a nurse and have valuable knowledge of patient care. I am very interested in visiting healthcare sites in a middle income country, and learning more about the three health sectors of the Argentine healthcare system. The relationship between health and business is extremely crucial, and I am very motivated to educate myself and gain a deeper understanding of the healthcare system and its administration. In addition, I grew up speaking Spanish at home and I am eager to get some good practice while traveling! I look forward to gaining valuable knowledge from professionals, getting to know my peers in this program, and I am overall very excited for what this experience has to offer!
