Hi! My name is Madison Davis and I’m from Jackson, NJ. I just finished my first year in the School of Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh. Along with nursing, I am also minoring in Social Work. At Pitt, I am involved in National Student Nurses Association and the American Cancer Association. I also spent some time this year volunteering at the North Hills Community Outreach Center in Millvale. In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. After graduation, I want to continue my education so that I can purse my dream career as a Nurse Practitioner. I plan on working for Nurses Without Borders, specializing in either pediatrics or NICU.
I always dreamed of being able to study abroad but I was worried that since I was a nursing major I wouldn’t be able to go abroad during a semester. Hearing that Pitt offered an option to study abroad in May was one of the many things that drew me to Pitt. Argentina was my first choice and I am so grateful for this opportunity. I picked Argentina because I am interested in learning more about the healthcare systems in different countries. I look forward to seeing the day-to-day operations of the hospitals on both the medical and business side. It will also be interesting to see how the patient care differs from the United States. Additionally, I was curious about the rich cultural of Argentina. I am excited to learn about the country’s traditions, history and way of life.
I hope to deepen my cultural experiences by observing how a middle income country lives. Since I am interested in becoming a traveling nurse, this experience will allow me to see and hear from professionals in my field. I will hopefully be able to ask them questions and learn from their experiences. I’m excited to meet new people and make once in a lifetime memories!
