On our first day in Ecuador, we were in Quito, the capital city of Ecuador. we started our day with breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast, we proceeded to go to the San Francisco church to look at the inside of the church during a sermon. after we looked around the main room of the church, we proceeded to go on a tour of and around the church. we learned about the founding of the church, the first settlers from Spain who converted the Ecuadorian people, and about how the monks used to make beer in the church. after this tour, we proceeded to walk around the city of Quito and do some shopping. we came back to the hotel for lunch and to regroup with everyone. after lunch, a group of us shopped for a little bit more and went to the basilica in Quito. we walked all the way up into the tallest tower of the basilica and could see the city of Quito from a bird’s eye view. The group and I proceeded to come back to the hotel after the sightseeing and ate dinner in the hotel. Even though it was the first day, it taught me so much already, and I can’t wait to continue my trip in the amazing country of Ecuador. Tomorrow we are traveling to the city of Cayambe to learn more about the country of Ecuador.
