After lots of traveling, we finally arrived in Buenos Aires! After a long 10 hour flight, going through customs, and checking in at the hotel today, we went to the IES office. We had a delicious lunch that consisted of grilled meat, roasted veggies, and a yummy cold dessert. My favorite part of lunch was the steak, and getting to know my group members more. We had lunch on a terrace with a beautiful view of the city. After, we had orientation, which was very informative and helpful. We learned about the different practices that Argentina has, and how to apply that to our next two weeks.
After lunch, we had free time to explore the city. We exchanged our currency from USD to Argentine pesos. Then, we walked around the surrounding neighborhoods and did some window shopping. It was so nice getting to see the city during our free time, especially with the nice weather. I loved looking at all the cool architecture and how much nature was incorporated in the city. Later, we had a group dinner at a nearby restaurant, which was also very good.
Just from the first day, I have fallen in love with the city of Buenos Aires and I can not wait to learn more through our upcoming presentations and activities. My first impressions of Buenos Aires are the kind people and the cool mix of European architecture with the latin American energy. Even just walking through the neighborhoods, I got a sense that the city has a deep history but also is also very youthful. The first day has been wonderful and I can’t wait for the next two weeks!
