We started our first day hopping off our 10 hour flight from Atlanta, Georgia to Buenos, Aires. We landed around 9:30 AM and the airport was much different than what I’m used to, it was quite calm and very easy and efficient. The first day in Buenos Aires was welcoming and it wasn’t too hectic or busy yet. We then were greeted by the IES staff with chocolates made in Buenos Aires. Soon after we got on the bus to head over to our hotel. As we drove through the city, I noticed that there were many hotel-like buildings and a lot less stores. The buildings were a little more run down then I expected but also some of them had beautiful architecture. The streets were filled with trees and buildings that were close together with many balconies attached.
The weather was much cooler than I thought it was going to be, it was around sixty degrees which is the perfect temperature for me! Around 12:30 PM we met up with IES staff and had lunch. This lunch consisted of so many yummy foods starting with chorizo sandwiches to steak and grilled chicken to ice cream bars for dessert. In Argentina, meats like steak and chicken are a very big portion of their culture and I’m glad we were able to experience a little bit of that on our first day. After that we had a safety presentation that told us all the tips to navigate our way through this trip.
After the presentation, we had free time to explore the city. We walked around looking through the various shops. I noticed there were similar things sold here and the US but also different parts, a huge difference was the pricing as many things are way cheaper here. We saw a bunch of cute sit down dinner places that I’m hoping to try out! So far the trip is off to a great start and I can’t wait to see how the rest plays out!
