Ancient Fortress’ & Shopping

I woke up bright and early this morning after a long night sleep to a great view of the Gangnam District that we are staying in. We departed from our hotel around 8:15am and took a bus ride to Suwon where we got to explore an ancient fortress. The fortress had great views of the surrounding city and it was guarded by walls and watch posts. In the middle of the fortress, there was an area to do archery! Archery is a very popular sport in Korea, as our tour guide Jinny told us that the country won in the sport in the Olympics games for the past many years. Archery was actually a lot of fun to do and I would definitely try it again! We then had some free time to explore the small neighborhood inside the fortress and we were treated to lunch at a traditional Korean restaurant. My favorite bite was the Spicy Pork bowl- it was great. We then left the ancient fortress and went to the Samsung Innovation Museum (SIM). This experience was super futuristic and interesting. We got to hear about the past and uprising of Samsung and where they are today. After the company tour, we took a ride to Myeongdong- a popular tourist market. This area was my favorite as there were many shops, places to eat, and things to see. After exploring on our own, we went to our welcoming dinner. This meal was served with 18 sides and it was quite the meal! We then had another challenge where we had to race to a ‘secret picture’ and my group found the spot first! The secret location was a shaved ice spot and we got it for free as we were one of the first 2 groups that arrived! We then went back to the hotel and enjoyed the rest of our evening. What a great second day!
