Today was another early morning after traveling all day on Saturday and Sunday. We spent of Sunday in Madrid touring the city and had lunch at Museo del Jamón in the Plaza Mayor. Madrid is a very beautiful city that has a lot of character in its buildings. I loved the big garden/park that they had in the city limits along with an urban forest. We got time to walk around which Avery and I spent in the Mercado de San Miguel which is a market that has many different kinds of food. The food in the display case looked so good that it did not even look real.

Today, we went to Hospital Basurto, BioBizkaia, and the Bilbao School of Engineering. At Hospital Basurto, we got to learn about how healthcare works in Spain as well as how nursing and bioengineering work in Spain. It was very interesting to learn that nurses have to take test every few years while decides where they will be working and what they will be doing. If you score higher on the test, you have more of a chance of getting the position that you want and picking where you will be working. At BioBizkaia, we got to see the different research projects that they are working on. One of them was a virtual reality that allows for healthcare works to go through certain scenarios where they need to figure out what is wrong with the patient and decided where they need to go based of the diagnosis and how severe it is. At the Bilbao School of Engineering(BSE), we had lunch along with learning more about our itinerary for the trip. I am very excited for the coming days and I can’t wait to explore more.
