The day started bright and early at 7:30 for breakfast on the 17th floor of the hotel. Our first adventure of the day was visiting the Suwon Hwaseong fortress. The views that could be seen from this fortress were amazing in addition to all of the history behind it. I was surprised by how big and how high up the fortress was. It was cool to learn about the reasons for the different shaped holes in the wall such as some being used to dump boiling water onto enemies. Also at the fortress, I got to try archery. It took a couple arrows to get the hang of but it was fun to see how many times I could hit one of the targets.

After some lunch at Isaac Toast, we headed over to the Samsung Innovation Museum. Here we learned about the history of Samsung technology and their products which spanned from phones to refrigerators. I thought the refrigerator was very creative because of its feature where it told the user what items were currently in the fridge and recipes based on that.
Next, we traveled to Myeongdong where there were many places to shop. I ended up buying a keychain and a Korean lego set after looking in a variety of shops. We also had our welcome dinner in Myeongdong where we shared a meal with 18 sides and got to hear from Pitt Alumni. Our second challenge of the trip was to find a dessert place based off of a photo. My group ended up being one of the first two groups who found the place meaning we got to enjoy our dessert for free.

My favorite part of today was our first company visit as I got to learn more about technology in Korea and how it advanced through the years. I am excited for tomorrow where we will be going on more company visits.
