Seoul Day 2!

Today started with a great meal at the hotel. I got bulgogi, pho, and fried rice, which were all delicious. This hotel buffet was better than any of the ones I have had in the United States. Then we left for the Hwaseong Fortress. The fortress was huge, with its walls stretching throughout the city. It was interesting to hear about the layout of the fortress and why it was made that way. After we walked around the whole fortress, we went to do archery. This was in the middle of the fortress with huge targets. We had ten shots and I wanted to make the most of each. Sadly, I missed every single shot.

After the fortress we went to our first business tour of the trip. This was to the S.I.M or the Samsung Innovation Museum. At the museum we were able to see not just the history of samsung but some of the up and coming innovations. One that I thought was very cool was the smart fridge. The most unique feature it had was tracking the items you put in and took out of the fridge. This helps keep your fridge organized as well as aware of when food is going bad. I thought it was a really good idea that I can see becoming apart of mainstream life. The entire museum was awesome and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Then we went to the Myeon-dong market. The area was bustling with tourists going to all the different shopping areas, and there was plenty. There were places with clothing, some with souvenirs, and my favorite was the almond store. It was not just any almond store, though; it was jam-packed with hundreds of different flavored almonds. As you went on throughout the store, the flavors became more unique with weird combos I would never have thought of. I spend an hour just roaming around shopping before going to dinner. The dinner was super unique. My table shared one huge tray of food that had many different dishes on it. When you wanted something, you would spin the tray around to be in front of you. Every dish was different than the other. The only common factor was that they all tasted great. I ate until I could not anymore and that’s where I wrapped up my great day 2 in Korea.
