While visiting Vasso Eliades, I was impressed by a lot of different things. When I first walked in the door, I was impressed with how fancy everything looked, how much inventory they had, and how high up all of the inventory is stored. However, the most impressive thing I learned about this company was the fact that they produce more energy than they use. I have never encountered a company like that in the USA, let alone a relatively large company that is a national leader. Overall, I thought Vasso Eliades was a very impressive company and I had a great experience visiting it.

Although it definitely has lots of similarities to lectures I have had at Pitt, Dr. Solomou’s history lecture was a unique experience for me. This lecture followed the same format as a typical lecture at Pitt, where the professor speaks the whole time and the students listen. However, it was different because most of my lectures as an engineering student are related to STEM. Most lectures will provide some time for practicing and going over problems, which did not happen with Dr. Solomou. Additionally, it was a little bit challenging to understand a professor with a different language background than I am used to, but I was able to make a quick adjustment to solve that problem. This lecture taught me that there are lots of significant historical monasteries throughout Cyprus. It also enhanced my understanding of the many groups that conquered Cyprus at some point, such as the Romans, Venetians, and British. Overall, I thought this was a very interesting and useful lecture and I am glad I had the opportunity to attend it.
