Day 2: Soft Skills & Sustainability

Day 2 was another amazing experience in Vietnam! I learned more interesting facts about the Mekong Delta, received a Vietnamese name, and best of all, I tried more delicious Vietnamese cuisine. During our first company visit, GreenViet, I learned a lot about green buildings and Green Viet’s unique journey. Since the sustainable building market is more or less just now taking off, it is enlightening to see how far GreenViet has come.

A key factor I believe contributed to GreenViet’s success is its country focused business mindset. Rather than immediately expanding outward, the company started by building trust and a client base within Vietnam. As they gained traction and a strong reputation, GreenViet gradually extended its reach abroad. This strategy not only helped boost their visibility through word of mouth but also helped position Vietnam as a growing presence within the green building space—with GreenViet company leading the charge with a strong market share size.

In terms of international influence, GreenViet is reliant on the global business environment, as most companies are. A single shift in global dynamics, such as tariffs, can create ripple effects that reach even local markets. However, GreeViet appears well-positioned to adapt, especially with its focus on long-term relationships and expanding networks.

One insight from this visit was Mr. Quang’s emphasis on soft skills. He effectively highlighted how critical communication is in business. Even though he is a civil engineer, he continued to further his education by receiving his MBA which allowed him hone his soft skills. His professional background is quite interdisciplinary, and he uses that to guide GreenViet forward.
