On Monday we headed to the University of Augsburg and went to a classroom to hear a virtual lecture from Will. He showed us different car prices compared to things like the quality of their display, and speed. He taught us about the important things going on in the automotive industry like the ban of a certain kind of engine by 2035 in order to reduce emissions, and how companies are trying to lobby again this or have the date pushed back, and simultaneously moving towards electric vehicles. It is very interesting to see the laws put in place to help the enviornment, as I feel America is activley trying to make climate change worse!

After the presentation, we broke into small groups with some German students and some Pitt students. My group was responsible for creating an 8 minute presentation on MAN. We had an hour and a half to prepared and then we all presented our different assigned companies to each other. MAN is a company that makes engines for busses, trucks, vans, and water vehicles. They use a special engine called euro 6 that is low in emissions and efficient with the fuel. They also use a technology platform, RIO, which allows for real time telematics, predictive technology, and fleet optimization. It makes their technology cutting edge.

After that, two German students took us around Augsburg, and took us to a beer garden. It was really nice to sit and talk with everyone after a long day of walking around. Finally, we all walked to an Italian restaurant for dinner. German food seems to be centered around potatoes, sausages, and sour kraut. Although I would not have eaten those foods at home, it was fun to try new things! It is nice to bond over meals together seeing as we do not all know each other, and are all experiencing this for the first time together!
