Our first lecture today was about renewable energy in Vietnam and the impacts it has on the economy and environment. The lecture was very reminiscent of our visit to GreenViet yesterday, and the lecturer showed a very dramatic video of the smog and polluted air inundating Ha Noi. This clip was very powerful in emphasizing how critical it is to move to more sustainable energy sources.

After the lecture, we visited FPT Software where we toured their building. Their seems to be a strong emphasis on an enjoyable work experience and team bonding. They have numerous facilities and sports teams to allow the different groups to bond encouraging higher productivity. The feature that I most enjoyed was the large wooden pathway shrouded with greenery on every side. While it’s important to stay out of the sun, the yard area was extremely beautiful.

Following the tour, one of their business analyst, La Hoai Vu, delivered a presentation about FPT Software’s process and success. To me, the highlight was FPT’s global reach and customers around the globe. I think it’s truly amazing because FPT has workers that work around the clock to match the schedules of international customers. With the extra stress on workers with their international schedules, it’s especially important to keep the workers happy in which they seem to succeed. La Hoai Vu said he was very satisfied and happy with his team and work. The investments in the sports groups and facilities no doubt improve the lives of the workers and help maintain the integrity of the companies products. Overall, it’s incredible how FPT is able to maintain its success and employee satisfaction.
