Today, we went to the highly anticipated Hyundai visit, where we were given the authority to tour their vehicle manufacturing line. This was one of my favorite parts of the trip so far. With my interest in engineering, seeing the process of creating a car from a simple roll of steel is something that blew me away. Hyundai created something extravagant by allowing most of the system to be fully automated. That means in the facility, a simple roll of steel can turn into a fully functioning vehicle with relatively small amounts of human intervention in most areas. They use huge robotic arms to mold, weld, and build huge components with amazing precision. Overall, it takes about 22 hours for Hyundai to turn a piece of steel into something that positively impacts the lives of everyday people. Sadly, I could not take any pictures of the interior due to security protocol.
Today, our second and last trip on our itinerary was a ferry trip. My best thing I learned on this cruise is that people in South Korea love seagulls. We found that a lot of them hold their hands off the side of the ship to feed them, which I don’t blame them for. How they swoop in fast and catch the food off your hand is very interesting to see. I also found it nice how they also uphold the seagulls’ health by giving them healthy snacks instead of chips or crackers, like how the United States usually does. The rest of the ferry trip was us looking out to Seoul’s business district as well as seeing the National Assembly building.
The final individual adventure on this day was getting food. Me and my friends went on a lot of shopping and got sushi at the mall. Coex is one of the most amazing malls I’ve been in in my life. We got lost with the sheer scale of the first floor alone and there were a great amount of stores to choose from. I will definitely make sure to head there again soon. Also, we went outside and found a huge Buddhist temple. Being my first time in one, it definitely didn’t disappoint. Here are some of my favorite photos from this day.
