Yogurt and Elevators

Our third day in Korea was just as exciting as the previous days. Today, we gained insights into the manufacturing industry. We began the day at HY/Fredit Co., a company in the food industry known for its probiotic yogurt drinks. It was interesting to get an inside look at the production process. While on the tour, we learned that in this factory, only around 100 people work, which is crazy because of how huge it is. Mostly everything is automated, and robots are used to pack the bottles that come off the assembly line.

Following the tour, we headed off to lunch, which was one of the best meals I have had so far. We had Korean hot pot, a boiling broth filled with beef, shrimp, crab, tofu, and vegetables. It had so many different flavors and textures, and watching it cook while sitting at the table was a fun experience.

In the afternoon, we visited TK Elevator. We were able to go inside the factory and take a look at the different stages of the production process. It was interesting to see the level of technology and craftsmanship they put into their elevators. On the visit, we learned that it takes only about a month and a half to build an elevator for a high-rise building. It was surprising to me that it only takes that much time to build one. Near the end of the tour, we got to visit their testing tower, where they test out different elevators before delivery. It was fascinating to see the engineering of something that we use without even thinking about it.

To finish off the day, I had Korean BBQ for dinner, which was amazing as well and I finally got to try soufflé pancakes for the first time. They were light and fluffy with the perfect amount of sweetness, it was like eating a cloud. It was a perfect way to finish off a busy and exciting day.
