This morning was pretty similar to yesterdays, we had a drive that was around an hour and half and so left early in the morning. We arrived around 10 AM but due to some miscommunication we had to wait a little bit until we could begin our tour of Continental. Once we began we quickly learned that this factory did not manufacture tires, but chips that would go into the electronic parts of cars. After a quick overview of the company we had a lecture from a Project Manager there and I learned a lot. He discussed how his jobs was constantly working on projects to make the manufacturing more efficient and we learned some of the problems he fixed which led to others and the process that led them to switch almost entirely to robots. I thought his job was really cool and would be interested in something similar in my future. After the lecture we split up where my group had a quick tour of the factory which was amazing to see all the robots work. They make 500,000 of the chips a day which I cannot even comprehend and overall was amazing.
After some lunch we headed to the main city of Regensburg. After a little free time we had a tour of the town hall which was really cool. I learnt a lot about Regensburg history and its prominence during the medieval ages and as important hub where the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire would congregate with his other lords. The building was really cool and entirely preserved and we later went downstairs where we learned about the torture and prisoners that happened as well. This period as a whole fascinates me and I love seeing parts of the world where you can immersive yourself to hundreds of years ago. After the tour we were given free time to explore the city which was great as it differed from Nuremburg and was not bombed much during the second World War. This made the city beautiful to explore and I had some excellent gelato during the free time. We finally met back up and headed back to our new home in Augsburg.
