This morning we took the metro all the way to the final stop on the line: Gorliz Hospital. The hospital was unlike anything I had ever seen before, and it felt more like a peaceful retreat than a medical facility. It was nestled right by the beach, so the views were absolutely stunning, with ocean air and natural light creating a healing and calm atmosphere. The hospital specializes in rehabilitation and during our visit we toured several key areas including the pharmacy, nurse’s station, and pediatric rehabilitation unit. One highlight was seeing the Oreka-Balance project in action. We were able to actually see how it helps patients regain balance through feedback. We even had a chance to try it ourselves, and that really brought the research to life. Overall, Gorliz felt like a place designed not just for physical recovery, but also emotional well-being. It made me reflect how important healthcare environments can be, and how much the setting can impact the experience of care.
After some downtime and a quick nap at the hotel, we headed out for the evening to attend the Arriaga theatre. Both the performance and the venue were breathtaking. It was such a special cultural experience, and the perfect way to close out the day.
