Today, we took a 45 minute metro ride up to Plentzia to visit and tour Hospital Gorliz. We did get a little lost on the bus system but it ended up giving us a beautiful view of the countryside. This is a hospital that specializes in rehabilitation for patients that non-acute illnesses. These patients often need help with mobility and stabilization. They have many research projects that they are working on to make products that can help to improve a patient’s quality of life. It was also very cool to see their in house pharmacy where the make and store medication for their patients. They have the most beautiful view of the ocean and I can see why it would be a better hospital to have to stay in.

After returning to our hotel and taking a break, we all met back up so that we could go to a concert at Arriaga Theater. We saw El Alma en un Tango which included our professor and connection, Saioa, to the Bilbao School of Engineering. The Arriaga Theater is located in old town and is loosely based off of the Paris Opera House. The concert included strings instruments, the accordion and singers. It was very cool to heard this take on the opera house which was beautiful on the inside and out. We are touring the theater on Saturday and I can’t wait to learn more about its history.
