On day 5, we started the bus ride to the Iyarina lodge in the Amazon basin. We left around 9 in the morning and only arrived around 8 pm. While it was a long day, it was filled with many stops and adventures. We at the typical breakfast of eggs and bread but this time an orange juice that I really liked. The juices here are much thicker than at home and remind me of more smoothie like textures. We took off on the bus to our very first stop which was the equator museum. We all got to stand on the equator line!

We then drove for a little longer until we reached the highest part of our trip. We got out and walked around for a little. This was one of the most beautiful landscapes as it is such a mountainous region. Skip even showed us the wild cranberries that you can eat.

After we got back on the bus where we drove to the hot springs. We had a little over two hours here where we could explore the different hot spring pools. They ranged from burning hot to just warm. There was even one that was freezing cold. Ava and I jumped in the cold then ran to the hot. It is supposed to be very good for you circulation to go from cold to hot. But it definitely was freezing! After, we ate lunch. I got the chicken which came with rice, lentils, and a salad. It was then time to get back on the bus.

We had missed the times for the humming bird show so kept on driving until we reached a gas station where we picked up a sweet treat. When we arrived at the cloud forest, it was too dark to see so we are going to try to do it on the way back. We then got ack on the bus until we reached the Iyarina Lodge! We had to drag our luggages through gravel to get to the rooms. I now see why they said back light. Lol! Within an hour of being there we saw three tarantulas. It was the scariest thing but also the coolest thing ever. We got dinner which was soup, tacos, and a banana covered in chocolate for dessert. To end the night, we hung around the fire place and told stories.
