Today, we got to sleep in which was very nice.
We started our day off with a short bus ride to the Taekwondo studio. Here, we learned about the history of Taekwondo and some of the basic moves. My favorite part was getting to snap a wooden plank in half by kicking my leg. Overall, this was a great experience!
Then, we took the subway to the area surrounding Seoul City Hall. We got lunch around Seoul City Hall. Afterwards, we began to make our way toward the City Hall for our tour.
Our tour included learning about the old city hall (which is now a library/museum) and the new city hall built in 2012. We started by going to the library portion of the old city hall. I really liked this area because of how many different people came in to read or do work. It was very cozy and welcoming. We then moved onto the museum portion of the old city hall. We got to see the old mayor’s office, some meeting offices, and many exhibits explaining the history of Seoul. I really liked the architecture of the old building!
Next, we went into the new building which consisted of 10 stories. Within these 12 stories, there were places to sit and do work, coffee shops, the new mayors office, and a venue for concerts and conferences. I really liked the view from the 10th floor; it was beautiful.
After we concluded our tour, we had some free time around the Seoul City Hall building. I just relaxed outside with some friends. We then moved onto walking toward Myeongdong for some free time.
When we arrived at Myeongdong, I finally got to eat a Korean corn dog. This was something I had been looking forward to!! It was definitely delicious, but large. I couldn’t finish the whole thing. After walking around for a bit, we went to dinner. Dinner was authentic Korean food once again.
Now, I am back at the hotel relaxing and doing some skincare things I bought two days ago. I’m excited for tomorrow when we get to go to Yonsei University!
