This morning we visited the Archaeological Site of Kourion. During this visit we saw the House of Eustolius which was built during the Roman period and remodeled in 3rd-4th century AD. in the style of a Roman villa. Many of the mosaic floors within the house are still preserved and we were able to see reference to Christianity through bird and fish mosaics within the house. The second site we got to see was right beside the House; this site was a theatre that was built in the 2nd century BC and was later restored in the 1st-3rd century AD. An interesting fact is that the theater was able to seat up to 3 thousand people, also if you stand in the middle of the theatre’s ground people are able to hear you from every seat.

In the afternoon we headed to Limassol to start to explore and visit the Castle of Lemesos. This first began with a short exploration of the old ports of Limassol to find food and do some shopping with friends. We then headed to the Castle of Lemesos for a guided tour of the castle which is now a medieval museum. The museum itself had many artifacts from all over Cyprus, many of them were parts of old churches or tombstones. Many of these relocated tombstones could be found in the basement of the castle which was indicated to originally be used as a church or place of worship, which is fitting for what they display in the area today.
