This morning we started the day with a morning walk through the city. My group started with the cooking class at”Kitxen.” We cooked traditional dishes from the Basque Country like pintxos, which are small bites typically served on bread. We also learned how to make tortilla de patata, a classic Spanish omelet made with eggs and potatoes. The instructor was welcoming and made the experience both fun and educational. It was exciting to get hands-on with local ingredients and to try dishes that are a big part of Basque culture.
After the cooking class, we went to the city’s main market. It was filled with displays of meats, cheeses, produce, and seafood. Walking through the stalls gave me a deeper appreciation for how important fresh, local ingredients are to daily life here. Later, we rode the incline up to an overlook of the city. The view of the entire city was incredible and was the perfect spot to end the day.
