Day Five: Be Happy, Be Happier, Be Glass Egg

Wow, wow, wow! I can’t believe Day 5 is already coming to a close. This first week has flown by and was filled with phenomenal people and cuisine that is absolutely scrumdiddlyumptious!

Today’s company site visit was to Glass Egg, and I was especially excited since I had my company presentation on them. Getting to see in real life what I had only researched online was such a cool experience. Glass Egg’s company satisfaction slogan, “Be happy, be happier,” might sound a little silly at first, but after hearing more about their values and work culture, I totally get it. They’ve built an amazing environment where employees feel comfortable expressing themselves as desks were personalized and reflected each person’s interests. While that may seem like a small detail, it speaks volumes about how the company fosters individuality and creativity, key traits that help set them apart in a highly competitive market. Their continued success is no accident; it’s fueled by a strong internal culture and a tenacious mindset. Happy employees, happy business.

One challenge I think Glass Egg and,  any company in the game design and development space, may face soon is how to authentically incorporate advanced technology, especially AI, into their creative process. Currently, Glass Egg doesn’t use AI in its artwork because they strive for originality and human touch. But as more tools emerge that could streamline or enhance production, it’ll be interesting to see how companies such as Glass Egg choose to adapt while maintaining artistic integrity.

This first week in Vietnam has been unforgettable! One moment that made me smile was snapping a picture of one of the UEF photographers taking a picture of another UEF photographer. I showed it to them, and we all cracked up. It was a wholesome, random little memory that captured the lighthearted spirit of the week. I hope the coming days are filled with more moments like that!
