We are now one week into our Germany trip and today was another day I had been looking forward to, today we went to Munich. I did not know what to expect for this trip because I don’t think I had even seen photos of Munich before today, but I was excited to be in a bigger city, as everywhere we had been before was not as large.
Instead of a bus we took the train today which was a cool change of scenery, although on the way there the train was extremely full, so I was not able to rest as much as I may have wanted to. Regardless I was still super excited to be in Munich and one of the first things we saw was the gorgeous town hall with the glockenspiel in the middle. After we met up with out great tour guide we went to watch the glockenspiel go off at 11. Our guide explained the story of the people on it are getting married, and then there is a battle, followed by dancing barrel makers. I loved seeing this happen and it was such a fun way to start the day. I was also shocked to hear that the biggest figures are about the size of humans or even bigger.

After the glockenspiel we took a super interesting tour of Munich and looked at a ton of spots including the church where pope benedict attended, and the golden path which was a string of golden bricks on the road made to honor those who opposed the Nazis. It was cool to hear about the history behind this city before getting the chance to explore it on our own. In our free time we used a lot of it to explore the shops and stores around Munich, and even visited the iconic Hofbräuhaus for our lunch. I was happy to be able to go there because it was the only thing I had known about in Munich before beginning this Plus3 process and it definitely met my expectations.
After having time to explore the city, we met up for burgers as a group and had a great dinner before taking the train back together. This time the train was nice and empty which gave me some time to unwind after a busy day.
