I got a good night’s rest and woke up around 8:30am to shower and head to breakfast. Then, our group met in the lobby and headed to Bukchon Hanok Village. This was a very interesting area. It used to be the place that the sons and daughters of the royal family lived, after their father made them move out. Because of this, the area has kept its former beauty and prestige. The area has been bought out by someone who wants to preserve the history of the neighborhood, so he rents it out, rather than selling the houses. This area remains residential though, so tourists must only be in the neighborhood from 10am-5pm. Outside of these hours, non-residents can be fined hefty amounts. It is also required that you remain fairly quiet while in the area, as people live there. The architecture of the houses was really cool and it was an interesting area. After the village, we proceeded to one of two Buddhist temples in the city of Seoul. The area surrounding the temple was shaded by many small lanterns, both in color and white. We explored the area for a bit before to Insadong, a popular shopping area. We had some free time to explore and shop, then we headed to a restaurant for lunch where I had a noodle soup. It was now around 2:30pm and the rest of the day was pretty open, so my friend Jacob and I went to Lotte World Adventure Park, the amusement park in Seoul. The place was huge and there were a lot of fun looking rides. Our favorite ride was Atlantis, a fast roller coaster. Because of long wait times, we didn’t get to ride any other coasters, but we tried a few other rides and got food from many of the place within the park. After about 5-6 hours at the park, we made our way to the Lotte Tower and Mall next door where we did some shopping. After the long day we had, we went back to the hotel for the night. A day well spent!
