Flea Market and The Beach

One day closer to another hotel breakfast. Our group headed off to the flower and flea market that opens every Sunday along the river. Most of the shops are closed until later Sunday, but around noon they all start opening up. Seeing so many people out enjoying the weather and the shops is always something that makes me happy. I bought a souvenir or two for my family members and I searched through a couple of Spanish vinyls to add to my collection. We then got to walk around casco viejo by ourselves to get breakfast and look around in the shops. We met back together in the plaza, where we all tried Rabas (fried octopus) and a typical juice drink to have on Sunday’s. The group headed to the bus stop after the food tasting session and we got to see the countryside on the way to San Sebastián. Once we arrived, we were met by a tour guide. We were shown around the city and got to learn about the history of the town, like how they used to have a wall surrounding them because they are so close to France. We also learned about some of the oldest buildings in the city, the fires that happened in the town, and how it was a really big port town founded before Bilbao. We were then given time to explore the town on our own before heading back to Bilbao.
