Today we had a late start so before our planned activities I went to a french bakery to grab an early lunch, I enjoyed some delicious croissants and juice. After my lunch I went back to the hotel so we could head out to Namsan tower. We had to take a special bus to reach it since it’s up a small mountain. The special bus was themed around the mascots of Seoul, which were Hetcho and his friends who represent the guardian demons in Korean folklore. Once we got to the tower we walked up to the observation deck to take photos of the views of Seoul, we were able to see almost all of the city which helped to drive home the sheer scale of Seoul. After taking a bunch of pictures I went to one of the tower’s premium restaurants, The Place, which was a traditional Italian restaurant. I was sat at a table with a beautiful view as the backdrop to my meal. I ordered a carbonara meal, since it’s one of my favorite meals to have back home with my family, and it was very good which is not typical for most restaurants i get carbonara at. After eating my food I lounged at my table for a bit enjoying the view beforeing rejoining with the rest of the group and heading to our next stop, the palace museum. The museum had numerous artifacts from the Joseon dynasty, such as government documents and royal attire. After touring the museum we went to a Korean cooking class. We were taught how to make a simple Korean Bibimbap dish, which had rice, carrots, onions, chives, oyster mushroom, lettuce, beef, and egg. It was really fun getting to cook a meal here since that is one of my favorite things to do back home.
Today was a day filled with great food, and I’m looking forward to touring Camp Casey tomorrow and seeing the mountains.
