Today we got a late start, typical in Spain on a Sunday. We started off at the flea market in Bilbao, which is typical here on Sundays. It was a great place to buy gifts for family and just take in. After this, we got delicious pastries and cafe con leche, a classic Spanish coffee. It was a peaceful experience, and also shows the difference in culture between Spain and some areas in the US.
After this, we took the bus for a day trip to San Sebastián. I was really looking forward to this, from hearing about the food to seeing pictures. We were lucky enough to have sun and beautiful weather, and the city lived up to my expectations. It is a small town on the coast, with a lot of Michelin star restaurants and beautiful beaches. We did a walking tour, which gave a good feel for the city, then found a good restaurant. This was probably the best meal I’ve had in Spain to this point. Enjoying good food and the beach are some of my favorite things, so experiencing it in a different culture was amazing. After a lot of sun and a long day, tonight’s rest is much needed!
