Today, we made our way down to Munich for a full day of exploring one of Germany’s most visited cities. It was a warm, sunny Saturday, which meant the city was packed with tourists from all over. Right away, the energy felt different, faster-paced, more crowded, and definitely more chaotic than the places we’ve visited so far.
We started with a walking tour of the city, covering everything from historic churches to political landmarks. For lunch, we skipped the typical tourist-packed Hofbräuhaus and instead went to Augustiner Stammhaus, which had a much more relaxed vibe. I ordered the Augustiner Special, a mix of pork and chicken with a side of potatoes. The food was solid, and being able to enjoy it in a traditional Bavarian beer hall was awesome.
During our free time, a few of us made our way to an Irish pub to catch the Bayern Munich game. The place was packed with fans watching the matches, and it was a fun way to just relax and take in the local football culture.
We finished the day with a quick dinner at a burger spot before hopping on the train back to Augsburg. After being surrounded by people and noise all day, the quieter ride home felt like a nice reset.
Munich definitely had a lot to offer, but with the crowds and fast pace, I don’t think I got to fully appreciate it. I hope to come back sometime soon to explore the city fully!
