In the opinion of everyone there, the beginning of today was overly long. That’s not just coming from me as an impatient college student, but Phil and Larry both agreed it dragged on a bit. We started at around 8:30am at the Hoerbiger site in Schongau, a quick valve factory tour (and a really cool shoe overing machine), and we were moved to the second site which focused on larger materials.
The second site was where the trouble started. First: a long lecture, the we were taken around the plant and shown the production of gears. It looked stright out of that show How It’s Made with very calming and repetitive procedures. The tour took about an hour but was interesting enough. But after some sandwiches an coffee we listened to two ours of well prepared presentations that maybe overstayed their welcome a bit.
After that, the read fun of teh day began. We drove to Oberammergau and took a cable car up to the top of a mountain. It was eaily the most breathtaking view I’ve ever seen in my life. On what side you have teh snow capped alps and Austria, and onthe other you have the tree-filled Bavarian alps. After lots pf pictures, we headed down and fished out our day in town shopping and relaxing for about an hour before heading back to Augsburg.
