We started today with a trip to Bilbao School of Engineering, where we had the chance to tour several of their labs. A highlight was the opportunity to see the latest version of Dr. Herrero’s project, a rehabilitation device that now has two foot platforms to simulate walking. It was so interesting to learn about the use of pressure sensors to help patients regain mobility. We also explored other labs, where we saw high-speed robotic arms and an AI powered body imaging scanner.
In the afternoon we visited the Vizcaya Bridge, often referred to as the “hanging bridge.” It is a 60 meter high tower that stretches across a wide estuary. We had the opportunity to walk across the top of the bridge, which came with beautiful views and an adrenaline rush. After, we rode the gondola suspended from the bridge back across. It was such a thrilling way to end the day.
