Day 8: Lucrative Limassol Port

Today we traveled to the port of Limassol for several company visits. Our visits to CPA (Cyprus Ports Authority), DP World Limassol, P&O Maritime, and Eurogate Cyprus offered a firsthand look at how each organization plays a role in maintaining the flow of goods through the island’s supply chain. The CPA as a port authority that focuses on infrastructure management and oversight, which is essential for maintaining supply chain efficiency and security. DP World Limassol demonstrated the concept of port operations and terminal management, showing vessel turnaround times directly impact the responsiveness of regional supply chains.

P&O provided insight into maritime logistics and the importance of reliable port services in ensuring smooth transport, linking sea transport to distribution. Their work supports supply chain vessel efficiency. Eurogate Cyprus, a container terminal operator, emphasized the use of real-time tracking systems, illustrating the importance of supply chain and lean operations to minimize dwell time and reduce logistics costs. Altogether, these organizations illustrate how coordination across port services, terminal operations, and maritime logistics contributes to supply chain integration and resilience in a geographically strategic hub like Cyprus.
