Day 8 (Mount Bukhansan, Cooking Bibimbap)

Today I had an very early start to the day. I woke up at around 6 a.m. to go on an optional hike in Bukhansan National Park. I made sure to pack snacks the day before because we would not have time to get food beforehand. It took about an hour and a half to get to Bukhansan National Park from our hotel.

When we arrived, we walked for about 30 minutes before getting to the start of the trail for Mount Bukhansan. When we started the hike, I noticed that the trail was made completely of rocks in different shapes and sizes. When we were about an hour into the hike we turned to see a unbelievable view of Seoul.

We continued to hike the trail and the higher we got up the harder the trail became. The rocks became steeper but there were guard rails that helped to climb. Once we hit the top there was an unbelievable view of Seoul as well as other smaller cities. At the top there was a flag of South Korea that people were waiting in line to take pictures with. We waited in line and got the picture. After we admired the view for a little longer before slowly making our descent down the mountain.

The hike down was a lot easier than the hike up. When we arrived back at the bottom, we headed to the subway to get back to the hotel. After being at the hotel for around an hour we headed off to a Korean cooking class. At the cooking class we made Bibimbap. Bibimbap is a dish of rice with beef, lettuce, carrots, mushrooms, onions, and an egg on top. We were shown how to prepare the dish and then given the opportunity to make it ourselves. I was happy with the way my Bibimbap turned out and it tasted good. After the cooking class I headed back to the hotel.
