Day 9 (Camp Casey, Mt. Soyosan)

Today we started around 8:30 so I was able to get breakfast in the morning. After breakfast we left the hotel to go to Camp Casey. Camp Casey is a US military base in Seoul. When we got there, we immediately had to show our passports as a form of identification. After we met up with 2 former Pitt students that are now in the military. One lives at Camp Casey and the other lives at Camp Hovey. They took us on the tour of Camp Casey. While on the tour it was explained to us that we could not take any photos of Camp Casey.

When the tour first started, we were shown a golf course in Camp Casey that people play on. Then we were shown the barracks were troops live during their time stationed in Korea. After we were taken to a big building where they work on vehicles. They specially showed us the Stryker. A Stryker is a Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle. About 4 people can fit into one Stryker and it is used to safely enter areas that are contaminated. Inside there is also a lab that can be used to take samples of the air to see if it is safe to get out. After finishing this part of the tour, we left for lunch. We got Impact Zone which was recommended by one of our tour guides. Because we were on a US military base we could only pay in US cash. For lunch I got some chicken alfredo which was good. After lunch we left for Mt. Soyosan.

We arrived at Mt. Soyosan for a hike. The hike was supposed to take around 45 minutes but because there was rain on the forecast we had to stop early. During the hike we did get to see a waterfall. There was also a temple-looking building that I heard singing coming from which seemed cool. After the hike we left for the bus to go back to the hotel.
