Today we got to visit our first real private hospital, ICBA, which is a cardiovascular hospital focusing on preemptive and fast heart care. And from our quick little visit and lecture on how the hospital is run I must say it is one of the most impressive hospitals I have ever seen. It really is world class, with some of the best equipment in the world and the best doctors from the nation. This hospital is something you would expect to see in the United States and is vastly different than even the best public hospitals.
It makes sense that the private hospitals are better in quality as they have more money, but I cannot think of the words to describe the difference from ICBA to one of the clinics or poorer public hospitals we went too. It is actually hard for me to wrap my head around how these two institutions exist in the same city. I only wish I knew what this hospital was like before going to the poorer public ones so I could truly feel the difference.
Going to this hospital shows things like class division and how big a difference having money is within the countries healthcare system. Yes, everyone gets healthcare but there is the worlds difference between the best private and worst public hospitals.
