Day 10- DMZ and Ball

Today we had a very fun but long day planned. The first place we were off to was the DMZ or Demilitarized Zone. This is the buffer area between North and South Korea that was created after the Korean war. It is highly guarded on both sides due to how close they are to each other and because of the nations history. As we were driving up, our tour guide Jinny told us stories about North Korea and especially about how brain washed they are. From an outside point of view it is crazy to think that the people in North Korea are actually satisfied with their lives and think that they are the best country. During our tour of the DMZ we got to walk through one of the North Korean built tunnels. After the Korean war, North Korea dug tunnels under the border to try and invade South Korea before being found. They dug 4 separate tunnels and we toured the 3rd. This tunnel was so small since the Koreans are small people. This was the closest anyone can get to North Korea and using a window we were actually able to look through into North Korea which is crazy to think about. After the tunnel tour we went to the observatory where we could actually see North Korean land. Due to fog it was not very clear but knowing that North Korea was in our view was once again very cool. I never thought I would get the chance to be so close to such an infamous country.

After the DMZ we went to a Baseball Game. The game we went to was the Heros against the Lions and we were on the side of the Heros. After getting food and some merch we headed into the stadium which was a massive dome. Korean baseball games are much different than MLB games. To start, the atmosphere was much more electric throughout the game. Each side has cheer leaders that lead chants the entire time their team is hitting. This engages fans and makes each play feel much more important since everyone is paying attention. Also, the pace of play seems much quicker in Korean baseball. The pitchers worked fast and hitters were aggressive which could be another product of the intense environment. The Heros unfortunately lost a battle against the Lions which went into extra innings where they lost in the 11th. We chose the right game to come to and being a baseball player myself it was so cool to see a game in another country. This makes me want to explore other leagues at home and in other countries to see what they have to offer! Thank you for reading my blog and I am looking forward to tomorrow!
