Day 9 – Machines and Mountain Views

Today we visited Hörbiger which was a company I honestly knew the least about going into the trip. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I ended up learning a lot. What surprised me most was how many different things they actually make. Some of their components are super small and detailed, while others are huge parts used in things like oil and gas pipelines. It was cool to see the range of their production and how precise everything had to be.

The factory tour was interesting and we had to wear jackets and shoe coverings which made the whole experience feel very official. One thing that really stuck out to me was how advanced their equipment was. A lot of the machines could do full jobs without needing human help which was wild to see. Also I was not expecting to find out that the company has its own gym which was definitely not something I thought I’d see on a factory visit.

After our time at Hörbiger we took a trip into the mountains and I think it might have been my favorite view of the whole trip. We took a gondola up to the top and the view was unbelievable. You could see the entire valley below us and rows of mountains in every direction. It didn’t even feel real. I just stood there for a while trying to take it all in.

After the gondola ride we had a little free time in a small village nearby. It was one of the cutest towns I’ve ever seen and felt like something straight out of a storybook. I did a little shopping and tried some of the best chocolate ice cream I’ve ever had. The whole town had such a peaceful charm and it was a perfect way to end the day.

Today was a really great mix of learning and relaxing and it’s one of those days I’ll definitely remember.
